Violin & Composition
Florian Willeitner is a multi-award-winning German violinist, composer and arranger. His work is shaped by the fusion of diverse musical cultures, ranging from classical music and jazz to musical traditions from around the world. As a representative of a post-genre approach, he unites creation and interpretation into a contemporary musical language with a distinctive aesthetic signature, reviving the tradition of the all-round musician.
His works have been commissioned by and performed for renowned orchestras, festivals and soloists, including the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Salzburg Mozart Week, Jazz at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Mannheim Symphonic Orchestra and Rolando Villazón, and are performed internationally.
Willeitner is a founding member of the New Piano Trio, with which he received the Bavarian Arts Prize in 2022. His compositions for the ensemble are documented on the albums np3, I Love Pop and What The Fugue. Since 2021, he has been the first violinist of the internationally acclaimed vision string quartet, with which he tours worldwide.
His awards include Second Prize at the International Zbigniew Seifert Competition (2016) and First Prize at the International Composition Competition for Piano Trio in Graz (2025) for Tigran’s Prelude. He studied with Benjamin Schmid at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and composed, among other works, Mozart in the Shape of Europe for the EU Summit in 2018.
In 2026, the vision string quartet album in the fields (ACT) will be released, alongside the world premieres of Violin Road Stories with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and The Art of Sonata at the Mozart Festival Würzburg. Florian Willeitner lives in Berlin and Passau and has been an exclusive recording artist with ACT Music since 2021.
