Florian Willeitner, primarius of the vision string quartet, presents his ‘Violin Road Stories’ as a sounding travel diary for the first time in collaboration with the SKO: created in the most diverse corners of Europe, inspired by sounds, places and people. A declaration of love to a free, diverse, and open Europe, blended in an evening full of stories, wanderlust, and groove with a good dose of virtuosity.
Even as an 18-year-old, Willeitner spent months travelling across Europe with a rucksack and violin, fascinated then as now by the countless musical languages and dialects that our continent has to offer and which have also influenced classical music over so many centuries. Today, the composer and violinist, born in Passau in 1991, is known as a dazzling bird of paradise on the music scene, as a singer/songwriter of classical music, as a tireless creator and surprising innovator within the otherwise often so dusty classical music practice. He has been a guest on the major international stages for many years, be it with the internationally acclaimed vision string quartet, as composer and violinist of the New Piano Trio or as composer of a ‘silent opera’ for live performers and puppets commissioned by Rolando Villazón for the Salzburger Mozartwoche.
