Founded in 2012, the vision string quartet has already established itself as one of the best string quartets of its generation within a very short space of time and has created new sound colors in the international concert scene. With their unique ability to alter between the classical string quartet repertoire and their own compositions from genres such as folk, pop, rock, funk and minimal music, the four visionary artists give new impulse to the music world.
The quartet's concert formats are innovative and versatile: the string quartet, which also sees itself as a band, performs in classical concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Berlin Philharmonie and Wigmore Hall London as well as at renowned festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Bodenseefestival, the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival. Away from classical formats, the four musicians experiment with new concert formats such as concerts in complete darkness. They also play the classical-romantic and contemporary repertoire mostly by heart. The music only in front of their inner eyes allows them interpretative freedom and more intense playing.
In 2021 the vision string quartet presented the album “Spectrum” with music that was entirely composed and produced by the quartet, together with accompanying music videos which the quartet directed, prodcued and curated themselves.
In 2020, their debut album memento received an Opus Klassik Award for best chamber music recording.
By collaborating with international artists from a wide range of genres, the vision string quartet also explores the enormous versatility of the string quartet in completely new cultural and tonal contexts.
The 2024/25 season was marked by collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the WKO Heilbronn, the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Düsseldorfer Sinfoniker as well as collaborations with the Finnish composer and jazz pianist Iiro Rantala. It also included the world premiere of a work for string quartet and orchestra by primarius Florian Willeitner.
The new season also includes the release of the long-awaited new album ‘In the fields’ on ACT, which will also be the starting point for numerous collaborations with artists outside the classical world.
