daoud

After a decade of accompanying, composing and writing for others, daoud decided to go his own way.

daoud has forged a reputation as the problem child of French jazz in a new scene blending jazz with hip-hop, r'n'b and electronic influences. The Franco-moroccan trumpeter fuels his compositions with absurdism and a little bit of inadequacy always looking for new ways to annoy purists.

"It's hard not to be bowled over when faced with such talent. This trumpeter with his assertive look and devastating sense of humour modernity within him. He has an uncommon sense of the stage, serving up innovative music with a continuity that would make Theo Croker and Chet Baker, Christian Scott and Clifford Brown, meet. He's a man for all kinds of adventures, as long as they're joyful, positive and danceable, and as long as they exude emotion. An artist to be reckoned with from now on" — Jean-Michel Proust (President of the Académie du Jazz, Artistic Director of Jazz au Phare)

“Reckless attitude [...] without losing their poetry” — Jazznytt (Norway's leading Jazz Magazine)

“Nice groove, great sound and ideas!” — Pamela Fleming (New York Trumpet Legend)
