Lightville

contemporary duo art

Shuteen Erdenebaatar, p, comp / Nils Kugelmann, contra-alto clarinet, comp

Shuteen Erdenebaatar and Nils Kugelmann meet in "Lightville" as interpreters and composers at the same time. They take their listeners on a journey between hope and tension, strength and sensitivity and passion and calm. This has made them winners of the "Biberach Jazz Prize", the "BMW Young Artist Jazz Award" and the "Munich Music Scholarship", among others.

The balance of composed music and lively improvisation leads to unforgettable moments and concert evenings that cannot be repeated. Multi-instrumentalist Nils Kugelmann, who has already played with Benny Golson and Richie Beirach, among others, can be heard on the contralto clarinet. He breaks with the cliché that this rare instrument not only plays the bass notes in the clarinet section, but can also shine as a solo instrument. Shuteen Erdenebaatar on the piano (winner of the prestigious Kurt Maas Jazz Award 2021, among others) contributes to this extraordinary concert experience with her lyrical harmonies and powerful rhythms, both as an accompanist and as a virtuoso soloist.
